Pulp & Paper

Problems facing industrial customers

The issues within the pulp and paper industry are threefold:

  • guaranteeing continuous production thanks to good labour relations, provision of safe working conditions for employees, raw materials and production tools;
  • improving competitiveness by rationalizing production and ensuring that the site develops;
  • complying with ever more stringent environmental regulations.

With many successful water and effluent treatment solutions in the pulp and paper industry, John Meunier is the partner of choice in all segments of this industry, from pulp production through to paper production.

Specific solutions

John Meunier' solutions deal in particular with the following requirements:

  • treatment of raw water and production of process water using high-rate clarification systems such as Actiflo®;
  • using physico-chemical, biological, aerobic, anaerobic and bio-filter applications to treat effluents;
  • reducing the amount of sludge and filamentous bacteria by using the MBP (Minimum Biosludge Production) process;
  • treatment of boiler-feed water by carbonate removal, demineralization and reverse osmosis;
  • removal of chloride and potassium by crystallization;
  • using micro-filtration to recycle water used as part of the production process for pulp and paper;
  • using membranes to recycle waste in order to achieve "zero waste";
  • primary and secondary treatment and dewatering of sludge using AF Table, Screw Press, etc.;
  • fibre recovery using DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation);
  • treatment of black liquors by multi-effect evaporation.
